SBS wanted to consolidate their two floors in their Federation Square office space, creating one single innovative space for their staff and production needs.

Within an Early Contractor Involvement, Renascent were able to provide the detailed and consultative advice that made this challenging project a success.  The team were able to assist in the design development process for SBS and provide buildability, programming and cost planning services for this heritage listed site. This early involvement ensured any risks were mitigated ahead the project commencement, as well as value engineering options highlighted.

Working closely with FJMT to deliver the cutting-edge design, the team ensured a smooth and effective delivery that was true to the project vision. The works involved connecting the floor plate from end-to-end and consolidating two floors reducing the space from 3,000m2 down to one 1,500m2 floor. This was achieved by creating centralised staff movement spaces.

The project contained a number of challenges. Complex technology solutions and a high level of acoustic performance needed to be integrated with a high spec architectural design. These works also needed to be undertaken in a live environment.

To deliver on this, the team worked collaboratively with key stakeholders to implement six handover stages, whilst maintaining live broadcasting facilities through each stage. Each of the handovers were meticulously planned to ensure a smooth transition for SBS staff and technology teams, whilst allowing our team to remain on program.
