As part of McCain Foods’ broader workplace modernisation program, Renascent was engaged to re-purpose an existing spec fitout prior to occupation. The scope centred on tailoring the space to suit McCain’s operational needs, technology standards, and long-term vision for a more efficient and collaborative workplace.
The refurbishment included new kitchen and improved breakout facilities, enhanced open workspace areas, a compliant comms room, mechanical and electrical upgrades, fire safety improvements, and the installation of a full-scale commercial kitchen. The scope also incorporated ceiling replacements, new joinery, feature finishes, and building-code-compliant fire suppression and ventilation systems.
Key priorities included:
Several specialised and technically demanding elements were central to the project:
Renascent provided a series of buildability and value engineering measures to maintain programme and cost efficiency. This included optimising service routes, re-sequencing trades, material substitutions, and early coordination with key subcontractors.
Working in a live environment required careful staging. Noisy and high-impact works were completed after hours, and the comms room was handed over early to allow McCain’s IT team to begin setup ahead of full completion. Clear communication throughout delivery ensured expectations and logistics were consistently aligned.
Critical risks were proactively managed through early site inspections, specialist engagement for compliance-heavy areas, and close coordination to resolve legacy services and ceiling height constraints. Staged access and night works helped maintain progress within a tight programme.
The project was delivered on time and on budget, achieving the required compliance standards and meeting all client expectations. McCain expressed high satisfaction with the delivery approach and final outcome, with Stage 3 works already planned as part of the continuing workplace upgrade program.
