Renascent has completed stage one of TRIP, the end-of-trip facility upgrade at International Towers Sydney, Barangaroo, the largest upgrade of its kind within a commercial building complex in the Southern Hemisphere.
The project delivers close to 1,900 square metres of premium end-of-trip amenity across two basement levels beneath the Barangaroo precinct. Three commercial towers, two commercial buildings, and 90 retail tenancies sit above, supporting approximately 25,000 workers. The precinct continued to operate throughout construction.
TRIP (Thrive, Refresh, Invigorate, Pause) unifies previously separate tenant end-of-trip facilities into a single, technology-enabled space designed for all commercial users across the precinct.
The upgrade includes expanded showers (40 per cent larger than the previous facility), upgraded lockers, premium grooming stations with Dyson styling tools, cool-down zones, private suites, and intelligent wayfinding that displays real-time shower and locker availability on arrival.
Despite sitting two levels below the street, the finished environment doesn't feel underground. Considered lighting, soft curves, and a warm material palette create a calm, open experience - even where ceiling heights and services density made that a challenge to achieve.
Each entry point features an arrival zone with a commissioned bronze water fountain by Australian sculptor Morgan Shimeld, alongside digital screens displaying facility occupancy, indoor air quality, and public transport updates.
Research during the design phase identified that cyclists and traditional commuters now represent a minority of end-of-trip facility users. Most visitors use the precinct's gyms, running routes, and wellness studios before, during, or after work. TRIP has been designed to reflect that shift — a facility for the full precinct community, not a single user group.
The project targets a 6-star Green Star rating. Existing bike racks were donated to St George Community Housing, hair styling tools were donated to ReLove in support of women and children impacted by domestic violence, unclaimed bicycles were refurbished through a partnership with Revolve reCycling for distribution to children in remote Northern Territory communities, clothing and towels were donated to Vinnies, and fittings and fixtures have been reused across the broader property portfolio.
TRIP was designed by Hammond Studio and delivered by Renascent in partnership with Lendlease, Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), and W H Symons Consulting.
South side facilities are now open. Stage two is underway on the north side, with completion anticipated in early 2027. Our team is already back at it.
