A murder mystery, a cast of construction professionals and a killer hiding in plain sight. Renascent swapped the construction site for the stage, raising $15,000 for MATES in Construction with an unforgettable night of entertainment.
Renascent employees traded their usual project responsibilities for a different kind of challenge, taking to the stage for Murder by Design, an original construction-themed murder mystery production created to raise awareness and funds for mental health in the construction industry.
Bringing together colleagues, clients, friends, family and industry partners, the event combined live theatre, music, comedy and a healthy dose of construction industry humour, all in support of an important cause.

Hardhats and hi-vis met the stage lights as our talented team brought a fictional construction site murder mystery to life.
With liquidated damages emerging as a potential motive, suspicious characters and unexpected revelations kept the audience guessing throughout the evening. Guests became part of the investigation, piecing together clues and casting their votes before the killer was finally revealed.
The production featured a mix of acting, singing and dancing, with standout performances from special guest Holly Denton, who delivered a rendition of Gloria Gaynor's I Will Survive, and Renascent Cadet Oliver Bourne, who impressed the audience with his performance of This Is the Moment from the musical Jekyll & Hyde.
Behind the production was Renascent's own Sharon Edmondson, who took on the roles of writer, director, performer and creative driving force. Her vision, creativity and dedication transformed an ambitious idea into an engaging fundraising event that showcased the talents of our people beyond the workplace.
A special acknowledgement also goes to the wider Renascent team who contributed both on stage and behind the scenes, helping bring every scene, song and surprise to life.
While the evening was filled with laughter and entertainment, the purpose behind Murder by Design was a serious one.
The construction industry faces significant mental health challenges, making initiatives that encourage connection, conversation and support particularly important.
MATES in Construction plays a vital role in addressing suicide prevention and improving mental health across the construction industry through awareness, training and support programs.
By bringing our people and industry network together in a creative and engaging way, Murder by Design provided an opportunity to contribute to this work while reinforcing the importance of looking out for one another.

Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, the event raised an incredible $15,000 for MATES in Construction, supporting its ongoing work to improve mental health and suicide prevention throughout the industry.
At Renascent, we believe our responsibility to the industry extends beyond the projects we deliver. Supporting our people, strengthening industry connections and contributing to initiatives that make a meaningful difference are all part of building a healthier, more connected construction community.
A huge thank you to our performers, organisers, supporters and everyone who attended and contributed to making Murder by Design such a success.
The mystery may have been solved, but the impact of the evening goes well beyond the final curtain.
