We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager based in Sydney. To succeed in this role, you will be a proactive and driven professional with proven experience in the construction industry. Your strong interpersonal skills and collaborative approach will enable you to build and maintain trusted relationships with clients, subcontractors, and key stakeholders. You’ll demonstrate the ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously, while providing clear, consistent leadership and direction to your project teams.
This role will oversee the end-to-end delivery of construction projects — from initial planning and coordination through to execution and successful completion.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Stakeholder relationships - Ensure projects are delivered on time and to the quality standards expected by clients and stakeholders. Proactively identify and communicate opportunities to strengthen client and stakeholder relationships within the team.
- Contract management - Oversee head contract and subcontract conditions, including timely procurement of all trades and services. Prepare and approve contracts and supply agreements in line with company authority limits, ensuring all documentation is reviewed and approved.
- Project planning - Lead project planning by managing resources, establishing and tracking both long-term and short-term programs. Identify project-specific risks, goals, and opportunities while overseeing the procurement schedule to align with key project milestones.Conduct project progress reporting and conducting meetings with stakeholders.
- · Work,Health and Safety - Managing compliance with safety systems, workplace injury management and workers compensation legislation, regulations, standards and codes, safe work method statements and the site safety rules.
- DesignManagement - Oversee design management by coordinating consultants to deliver design milestones in line with project timelines. Ensure all designs meet time, cost, and quality objectives, and thatDesign Risk Assessments are completed and reviewed as required.
- Staff management & leadership - Provide strong, proactive leadership to project teams by setting clear expectations, fostering collaboration, and driving accountability across all stages of project delivery. Conduct regular team meetings to communicate progress, align on project goals, and address key issues
To be successful, you will need:
- Relevant industry qualifications in Construction Management, Engineering or similar, preferably with trade background;
- Sound experience within the Construction Industry, preferrable in the commercial fit-out and refurbishment section, with a minimum of 7 years’ experience;
- Proven abilities to establish and maintain effective relationships with clients and stakeholders;
- In-depth knowledge of construction procedures and project management principles
- Extensive experience in managing budgets for large construction projects
- Competency in MS Project, Excel and Word are essential, as much as Powerpoint, Timberline, Project Centre and Aconex (desirable);
- Advanced understanding of risk management policies and procedures
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
- Understanding of the BCA
