We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer to join our growing Sydney Team. As a Project Engineer, you're at the heart of our projects, driving them forward with precision and enthusiasm. Your mission is to plan, execute and complete projects within scope and quality objectives. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of construction methods, excellent communication skills, and a proactive, detail-oriented approach to problem-solving.
Your Duties & Responsibilities:
- Client relationships: Build and maintain strong, trusting relationships with clients, stakeholders, and contractor; completing the project in compliance with client/stakeholder expectations of time and quality.
- Financial management: Responsible for overseeing project financial performance by preparing progress claims, managing cost tracking, and maintaining positive cash flow to exceed margin targets. Lead design reviews, managed scope changes, and implement value management strategies to optimise profitability.
- Contracts management: Manages head and subcontract conditions, including the timely procurement and execution of contracts; Preparing and administering contracts within delegated authority limits, resolving contract claims, and finalising accounts after project completion.
- Project planning: Responsible for establishing and monitoring project programs, identifying risks and opportunities, and aligning procurement with project timelines; leading key project meetings, driving project completion, identifying jurisdiction, and implementing cost-effective practices.
- HSEQ management: Ensure all projects adhere to strict safety standards and protocols; Maintain a safe working environment by managing the projects in compliance with policy and regulations.
- Leadership: Provide leadership to the project team, ensuring effective communication, collaboration, and the successful delivery of project milestones.
- Design management: Manage all design inputs and effectively distribute all required information to the project team, including consultants/ stakeholders, for incorporation into the design.
What you will bring to the role:
- Relevant industry qualifications in Construction Management, Engineering or similar,
- Sound experience within the Construction Industry (preferably in the commercial fit-out and refurbishment sector) with a minimum of 2-5 years’ experience.
- Working experience in MS Project, Excel, and Word are essential, experience in PowerPoint, Timberline and Procore are desirable.
- Significant knowledge in the use and management of commercial industry-based head contracts and subcontracts.
- Solid knowledge of project management techniques including sub-contractor tender evaluations, value management and quality assurance, procurement methodologies, project organisation and communication.
- Proven track record of identifying customer needs and providing quality customer service.
- Experience in providing assistance to tender submissions and project by way of site logistics planning, programming and methodologies.
