Estimator

The role:

We are seeking an experienced Estimator for a 12-month fixed-term contract, with potential to transition into a permanent role, to join our Sydney team. In this role, you will be reporting to our Estimating Manager and supporting our estimating team in achieving quality projects. To be successful in this position you’ll identify and manage risks and opportunities in new projects through accurate estimation services. You will produce estimates in a timely manner in line with Renascent’s policies and procedures, and in line with individual client or stakeholder requirements.

Your duties and responsibilities:

  • Client Relationships: Maintain proactive communication throughout the pre construction phase, ensuring clients/stakeholders are informed. Promptly addressing client inquiries and promoting a transparent and reliable relationship.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify and assess potential project risks, developing strategic mitigation plans to safeguard budgets and timelines while maintaining accuracy. Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost optimisation using market insights and supplier relationships.
  • Estimate: Produce precise and competitive project estimates by analysing detailed plans, calculating material and labour costs using up-to-date market data, and delivering clear and organised proposals that support informed decision‑making.
  • InitialReview of tender submissions: Understanding the client brief and divide the overall project scope into trade packages, and prepare clear invitations to tender, ensuring a streamlined and professional bidding process.
  • Post-Estimate: Manage the post‑estimate phase by coordinating a seamless and informative handover, transferring all relevant deliverables, documentation, and insights to project stakeholder

To be successfull, you will need:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in Estimating, ideally in fitout and refurbishment
  • Ability to interpret building plans & specifications
  • Estimating experience on Commercial, Government, Retail, Health and Education projects up to $20m+
  • Qualification in Building & Construction / Quantity Surveying or Trade Certificate
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships and work as part of a team
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, time management and organisation skills
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills with the ability to use initiative and exercise sound judgement
