Renascent was engaged to complete a full refurbishment of 2 floors for RMIT. The project was delivered while the building remained operational, all noisy works were completed out-of-hours and noise monitoring devices were installed to maintain approved noise levels. These works were completed in a 17-week program including a 4-week commissioning period.
The full project scope of works to Building 8 Level 9 and Computer Lab Building 10 Level 8 included:
- Refurbishment of 14 new centrally-managed teaching spaces
- Student Refurbishment of 14 new centrally-managed teaching space
- Student touch down zones
- AV specialist teaching spaces for Social Science and Language students with a teaching capacity of 600 students
- Escalator upgrade
- Amenities refresh
- Plant room upgrade, with Building 10 requiring the removal and rectification of façade to enable access for new plant
- A full services upgrade, with Building 8 requiring access via mobile crane and blocking off part of La Trobe Street and all of Bowen Street.
