AAMI Park Stadium

Project
April 3, 2024

The FIFA Women’s World Cup was a huge moment that most Australians will never forget.

In preparation for one of the biggest sporting events ever hosted in Melbourne, Renascent were commissioned to upgrade AAMI Park to world-class standards.

This project included a number of upgrades to the venue’s facilities, with the hard deadline being the kickoff of the World Cup in 2023.

With a project timeline of just six months, key works included:

With the primary focus areas being the upgrade of the Corporate Suite and stadium uplift to FIFA standards, the scope was significantly increased once the construction phase was underway.

Unexpected remedial works were required to rectify latent structural conditions, necessitating the swift response of structural engineers, and significant steel and concrete works. Additionally, an upgrade to the grandstand was added to the program, which was undertaken within a live sporting facility. This meant that our team needed to work around a very busy events calendar which included concerts, soccer, rugby and other training requirements. and there was no option to move the completion date.

As excitement grew for the World Cup, so did the pressure on our team, who worked around the clock to get the job done.  This project had a specific deadline and a great deal riding on it for Renascent, AAMI Park and FIFA.

The teamwork and outstanding project coordination required to meet FIFA's stringent requirements were monumental, but all ‘players’ on the Renascent team understood the role they had to make one of the biggest sporting events in Australia’s history run smoothly.

A world class World Cup venue

Even with scope changes and setbacks, our team was able to complete the AAMI Park upgrade, working until the 11th hour before the first teams kicked off on the field.

The FIFA Women’s World Cup was a huge moment that most Australians will never forget. Renascent was proud to step upto the challenge of ensuring that AAMI Park met the standards of a world-class venue.
